A TWO-year-old boy is fighting for his life after a concrete wall fell on top of him at a property near Toowoomba.

Paramedics were called to the Irongate address about 6pm and upon arrival treated the boy for critical head injuries sustained after the wall collapsed on top of him.

A CareFlight helicopter arrived at the Rossvale Road address about 40 minutes later to rush the boy to hospital, such was the seriousness of his injuries.

After arriving at the hospital about 8.30pm, the boy was rushed into intensive care.

“I can confirm we have been to Irongate to transport a young child to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital — our crew is still with the child at the moment,” a CareFlight spokeswoman told The Courier Mail.

“The crew met the boy and his mother at a nearby helipad where he was taken to hospital.

“He’s in a very critical condition as a result of multiple traumatic injuries and he has a team of doctors working with him now — they’re looking at putting him into surgery tonight.”

Authorities are now investigating how the concrete wall came to fall on the boy.

It is understood that initial investigations have indicated the boy’s injuries were the result of nothing more than a domestic accident.
