A 21-year-old woman hit by a car in Strathfield on Friday night has died in hospital.

The woman and two men were crossing the road at a green pedestrian light when they were struck by a white Toyota Corolla, allegedly running a red light.

Paramedics rushed the Padstow woman to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition with severe head injuries.

She died on Sunday after her life support was turned off just before 1pm, police said.

The two injured men - a 20-year-old from Strathfield and a 25-year-old from Pendle Hill - remain at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with head and pelvic injuries.

The driver, a 37-year-old man, was taken to Concord Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

He has been charged with multiple offences, including dangerous driving occasioning death and failing to stop at a red light.

He will face Penrith Local Court on February 25, after being granted conditional bail.
