Cole Miller was allegedly struck on January 3 and died in hospital.

ONE of the men accused of the fatal alleged coward-punch assault on teenager Cole Miller will apply for bail in the Brisbane Supreme Court next week.

Daniel Jermaine Lee Maxwell, 21, has already made an unsuccessful attempt at bail, but has lodged a second application.

Maxwell and “associate” Armstrong Renata have been charged with unlawful striking causing the death of 18-year-old Mr Miller on January 3.

Miller was aged 18.

It is alleged Maxwell threw the first punch after saying something like: “Do you want to see something funny?”

Police say Armstrong then circled behind Mr Miller and punched him in the head, after which he fell to the ground.

The promising water polo player died in hospital the next day.
