A WOMAN is fighting for life after a hit run involving up to five motorcycles in a shopping centre carpark southeast of Melbourne.
Between three and five motorcyclists were riding through the Carrum Downs Regional Shopping Centre car park when one hit the woman just after 5pm.
They all fled the scene.
The 34-year-old suffered head and chest injuries and was flown in a critical condition to The Alfred hospital.
A witness posted online that there were “police and ambulances galore”.
Another witness at the scene said she believed the motorcyclists were riding “monkey bikes” — miniature motorbikes — which are illegal on Victorian roads, footpaths and nature strips.
All westbound lanes of Hall Rd near Cadles Rd have been closed.
Meanwhile, a man has died after his car hit a tree along Healesville-Kinglake Rd near the Melba Highway in Kinglake.
Police, who are at the scene, believe the driver lost control of the car just before 6.30pm.
He died at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.
The man’s death brings the provision road toll to 182 — two fewer than at this time last year.
Police urged witnesses or anyone with information about either incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
