Motorbike rider found hurt on Gladstone worksite hours after hitting barricade

A MAN lay on the road for hours before being discovered after he drove into a steel worksite barricade in Gladstone last night.

Police believe the man was travelling on Kirkwood Rd in Gladstone last night between 11 and 12.30, when his motorcycle hit the barrier.

The twenty-four-year-old was thrown over the barricade and into the worksite, where he lay until he was discovered by passersby early this morning.

Police were called to the scene around 6.40am.

He was in Gladstone Base Hospital with serious head and chest injuries.

A cement truck that rolled over on the New England Highway causing delays near Geham north of Toowoomba, has been towed.

Emergency services were called to the single-vehicle incident about 11.15am.

A spokeswoman for Queensland Fire and Rescue Service said officers worked to free the driver, who was trapped in the vehicle.

The man was taken to Toowoomba Base Hospital. His injuries were not believed to belife-threatening.

Earlier, two people were taken to Toowoomba hospital with minor injuries following another incident on the New England Highway.

About 10.20am, two people came off a motorbike on the highway about 1km from Geham State School.
