A GEELONG teenager was left in a coma after an argument over a girl turned violent on Friday night. Kane Hider, 16, from Wandana Heights, was beaten unconscious, allegedly by a 17-year-old friend, at a party in St Albans Park following an argument over a girl. Kane's facial injuries were so severe he was unrecognisable to his family after being flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and put in an induced coma with swelling of the brain and a cracked jaw, the Geelong Advertiser said. After an anxious wait, Kane's family got the early Christmas gift they had been hoping for, when he opened his eyes on Saturday night. "It was devastating to see him in hospital," sister Alexsis Bott, 20, said. "To see a member of your family like that is not something I would wish on anybody. Kane had been at a party in Enfield Rd, St Albans Park, on Friday night, when the 17-year-old childhood friend accused Kane of kissing his ex-girlfriend. |
