A SERIAL hoon has been locked up for three months and had his "weapon" taken away.

Jamie Alex Tabone, 23, was jailed after driving three times while disqualified, including a high-speed police chase when he drove at 230km/h without headlights.

On his MySpace page, Tabone boasts about the high-performance Ford Tickford XR8 used in the police pursuits, calling it a “weapon” and “t bones pride an joy” (sic).

Tabone, who was disqualified from driving for three years for previous road offences, will be banned from driving for a further 12 months.

His “weapon” was also taken away when Magistrate Parsons approved a police application to have Tabone’s XR8 surrendered.

In the Ringwood Magistrates's Court this morning, magistrate Parsons said Tabone would not be imprisoned for charges stemming from the police pursuit in December last year and another just two weeks later when he was drunk.

Mr Parsons said he accepted medical evidence that Tabone had an acquired brain injury and had lost the ability to make rational decisions.

The Berwick man sustained head injuries after falling asleep at the wheel and smashing into a tree in January 2006.

Mr Parsons said Tabone's police pursuits in the Yarra Valley at 230km/h and in Warragul at 140km/h in January this year would be punished with a two-year community based order.

"In my opinion, it's extraordinary that no one was killed by you," Mr Parsons said.

Mr Parsons said Tabone's impaired skills might explain him fleeing police, it was no excuse for driving without a licence.

"The decision to drive while disqualified and over the blood alcohol limit was calculated," he said.

"The brain injury could not be said to have played a major role in these decisions."
