Toddler dies in hospital after balcony fall

A TWO-YEAR-OLD boy has died after he fell from a balcony in the Sunshine Coast.

The toddler fell more than seven metres from an apartment block on Pacific Terrace at Alexandra Headlands about 3.30pm (AEST) yesterday, the Department of Community Safety said.

Ambulance crews worked on the boy at the scene and he was flown to the Royal Children's Hospital in Brisbane for further treatment.

A spokesman for the hospital said the boy was very seriously injured from the fall.

"Unfortunately the child's injuries were very severe and he died shortly after arrival," the spokesman said.
